Seeking a Job
Often times when one is unemployed and is seeking a job one tends to have to have the mindset of "I don't want anything but what I usually do." In a world where recession is the name of the game this is the worst kind of thought to have. The best thing one can do is to make a compromise if what one is seeking seems highly unattainable. It is better to get a job similar to what you normally would do and get a pay a few thousand off from what you normally would make than to sit at home unemployed and poor for months on end. If you are used to being in a managerial or supervisory position say in Marketing and their is an opening to be a Marketing Executive in a large organization. This is not going to be an upper level position however, you will be working in your preferred field and because it is in a large organizaiton then most likely you will be earning a very decent salary. The main thing to remember is that no job is eternal. If you take one job and after a few months you find something better then at that time you can certainly leave that organization for another one. Remember, even with your pride, bills need to be paid and mouths need to be fed!

Bosses are people, too!
Many employees display a negative attitude towards their bosses and don’t see them as people. The majority of bosses are owners of small businesses who work long hours daily and struggle to keep their doors open; often times after paying their staff have nothing left over for themselves. Employees need to be a lot kinder, loyal and more supportive to their bosses and remember that they are people too trying to make it in these hard times.

Jamaican Employers
Local employment agencies in Jamaica are struggling to make ends meet because Jamaican employers are unwilling, or reluctant to pay Agencies a fee for finding applicants. Instead, the employee pays the agency half a week’s salary for finding them a job. Employers need to be mindful of the services reputable employment agencies offers and how it can save them time and money, i.e. screening telephone calls, sorting through countless resumes, hours of interviewing, pre-employment testing, etc.

Overseas Employment
Why is it that so many Jamaican’s are willing to take menial jobs and pay big bucks just for the opportunity to work overseas, especially in the U.S., yet many of them go there and behave so badly? Among all of the other nationalities Jamaicans seems to have more of an attitude problem – WHY?
